Ram- Hello, Jayesh! Good morning. I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t leave yesterday.
Jayesh- Good morning, Ram. I didn’t get the reservation. If I had tried to reserve two days earlier, I would have got it. I wish I had listened to my mother’s advice.
Ram- But Jayesh, if you had told me earlier, I would have reserved a berth for you. You know, I come to the railway station almost every day.
Jayesh- I didn’t know that the trains were normally fully booked in advance at this time of the year. If I had known that, I would have definitely requested you to do the booking for me. Well, why cry over spilt milk! Now I have made the booking for next Monday.
Ram- I’ll tell you what. The schools and colleges are reopening now. That’s why there is so much rush. If you need any other help, please don’t hesitate to tell me. By the way, I’m leaving for Surat tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll be back before Monday.
Jayesh- My brother, Ramesh, is coming from Bangalore today. He will be leaving for Surat tomorrow. He will give you a lift. He will be glad of your company.
Ram- But I’ve already bought a bus ticket. I wish I hadn’t bought it. If I had known that Ramesh would be going, I wouldn’t have bought the ticket. But it doesn’t matter. If he intends to go tomorrow, I’ll join him. If he comes today, please give me a ring so that I can return the ticket
and get a refund. By the way, have you informed your boss that you will be arriving one week later?
Jayesh- Yes, I talked to him on the phone. He wasn’t very happy. It was my fault but I couldn’t help it. Next time I’ll make the reservation sufficiently early. I wish I had wings. If I had wings, I would fly to Bombay.
Ram- But then why didn’t you try to go by bus? If I were you, I would go to Bombay by bus.
Jayesh- How long does the bus take to reach Bombay?
Ram- Just 24 hours. If you went by today’s bus, you would be in Bombay tomorrow. If you started today, you would still be able to join duty in time.
Jayesh- But I don’t like the bus journey. If I travelled by bus, I would fall sick and if I fell sick, that would take away all the pleasure of the journey.
Ram- Travelling by plane is far too expensive, isn’t it?
Jayesh- If it were a little cheaper, I could go by plane.
Ram- Don’t worry about such things now. Relax and enjoy yourself.
Jayesh- I’ll ring you up as soon as Ramesh arrives.
Ram- If I’m not at home, you can leave the message with anybody. Thanks Jayesh. I’ll miss you very much when you leave.
Jayesh- I’ll miss you too. Anyway we’ll meet before I leave.
