 Conjunction-How To Solve Conjunction Competitive English Grammar

शब्द अथवा शब्द समूह को जोड़ने का कार्य करने वाले शब्द को Conjunction कहते हैं, जैसे- and, but, either—— or, neither——–nor, etc. Conjunction मुख्यतः दो प्रकार के होते हैं। How To Solve Conjunction Competitive English Grammar

1. Coordinating conjunction

2. Subordinating conjunction

1. Coordinating conjunction : मुख्यतः चार प्रकार के होते हैं।

(i) Cumulative conjunction -एक कथन को दूसरे कथन से जोड़ने मात्र का कार्य करते हैं, जैसे-

Ramu as well as his friend is right.

She went to Mumbai and saw the gateway of India.

My brother gives me both money and advice.

They were not only clever but also intelligent.

Noun-Competitive English Grammar

(ii) Adversative Conjunctive -दो विरोधी भाव रखने वाले कथनों को जोड़ने का कार्य करते हैं, जैसे-

She worked very hard yet she could not succeed.

You are intelligent but you are not practical.

They have no money still they will try to help us.

 (iii)  Alternative Conjunction  -दो विकल्पों के बीच choice व्यक्त करते हैं, जैसे-

Please, give me a pen or a pencil.

She can neither read nor write.

Either play honestly or quit the game.

Work hard otherwise the teacher will punish you.

Hurry up, or else we will miss the bus.

Pronoun-English For Competitive Exam

 (iv) Illative Conjunction -परिणाम व्यक्त करते हैं।

They do not have anything so they can not give us anything.

He has grown very old, therefore he can’t work very hard.

 2. Subordinating Conjunction -How To Solve Conjunction Competitive English Grammar

जब संयुक्त वाक्य में एक वाक्य दूसरे वाक्य पर अपने अर्थ के लिए निर्भर होता है तो उस उप वाक्य को जोड़ने वाले Conjunction को Subordinating Conjunction कहते हैं, जैसे-

I like to play cricket because it is an interesting game.

(i) I like to play cricket.

(ii) Because it is an interesting game.

दूसरा वाक्य अपने अर्थ के लिए पहले वाक्य पर निर्भर करता है अतः यह Subordinating clause है और

Because Subordinating Conjunction है। 

इसे निम्न वर्गों में बांटा जा सकता है।

 (i) Cause/Reason : Because, Since, As (क्योंकि)

We can not play outside because it is raining.

Since she is unwell, she will not attend the meeting.

As your father has grown old, he can not work hard.

 (ii) Time : as, as soon as, when, while,

since, as long as, before, after, till, until समय व्यक्त करते हैं जैसे-

The bus left before we reached the bus stand.

When she comes to me, I was playing.

The city has changed since I left it.

Wait here till I come.

As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away.

 (iii) Result : परिणाम So…that, Such… that

They work so hard that their health broke down.

She is such a kind lady that she helps everyone.

You are so weak that you can not go anywhere.

 (iv) Purpose : उद्देश्य so that, that, lest

Walk carefully lest you should fall.

She took her camera so that she could take photographs.

We eat so that we may live.

Come closer so that I can see you better.

Adjective-English For Competitive Exam

(v) Condition :  शर्त बताते हैं 

If, unless

If you work hard, you will gate success.

You should not attend the wedding unless you are invited.

 (vi) Comparison : तुलना बताते हैं – Than, as

Ram is braver than Shyam.

Sita is as tall as her sister.

(vii) Place : स्थान बताते हैं Where, wherever

I know where she was born.

You can go wherever you want to go.

Verb-English Grammar For Competitive Exam

 (viii)Concession: रियायत बताते हैं Though, Although

Though you are rich, you are not honest.

Although she invited me personally, I did not go there.

 (ix) Relative Pronoun and Relative Adverb भी Subordinating conjunction का काम करते हैं, जैसे-

This is the same book as she wants. (Pronoun)

This is the place where he was born. (Adverb)

Do as you want to do. (Conjunction)

Can you tell me where he works. (Conjunction)

Adverb-English For Competitive Exam

1. Both —— and का उपयोग होता है तथा verb हमेशा Plural रहेगी।

Both Seema and Sonu have come.

Sonu is both wise and beautiful.

2. Either—— or तथा Neither —— nor होता है और verb बाद वाले Subject के अनुसार आती है।

Either you or she can go to picnic.

Either Seema or her sisters have finished the work.

Neither Ram or his brother have killed them.

Neither you or your partners have won the game.

 3. Not either—– or आता है ना कि nor 

Your car is not either useful or expensive.

My dog is not either black or red.

 4. When जब एक कार्य समाप्त होने के बाद दूसरा कार्य होता है।

While जब दोनों का एक साथ हो रहे हो।

When she saw her parents, She became happy.

Raju came to my home while I was reading.

The mother cooked while the children played.

They will play chess when you come tomorrow.

She met Raja while I was walking in the garden

 5. Scarcely/hardly—— When/before होता है। (मुश्किल से ………कि)

Hardly had the teacher left the class when/before

the children made a noise.

Scarcely had she gone there when/before

she met her father.

 6. Not only——- but/but also आता है। इसमें जो Parts of speech not only के बाद आता है वही but/but also के बाद आना चाहिए। verb हमेशा करीब वाले Subject के अनुसार आती है।

Ramu was not only fined but also expelled. (verb)

Not only Ramu was fined but also Raja was. (Noun)

Not only I but also my friends were present there. (subject)

Not only she but also I have to do it. (Pronoun)

 7. No sooner……… than आता है (ज्योंहि……त्योंहि)

No sooner did she enter into the class

than the children stood up.

No sooner did the thief see the police

than he ran away.

 8. Not/never…….. or होता है।

She has never written to me or talked to me.

Radha did not break it or lose it.

 9. Other/Rather ………. than होता है।

Sapna is none other than my student.

I would rather have the pen than the car.

 10. The reason/ The reason why ……..that होता है।

The reason why Sonu is absent is that she is ill.

The reason for his absence is that he is ill.

The reason why they have appointed her is

that she is intelligent and laborious.

 11. Lest …… should होता है।

Lest के साथ Not नहीं आता है।

Work hard lest we should fail.

She worked hard, lest she should fail.

 12. So/as……. Positive Degree Adj. …… as 

So that + clause

So as  + infinitive (to V1)

He is as handsome as his father.

She is not as/so curious as her sister.

They laboured hare so that they could earn a lot.

They laboured hard so as to earn a lot

She works hard so that she can get a good job.

She works hard so as to get a good job.

 13. Unless शर्त का बोध कराता है जबकि

Until समय से संबंधित शर्त का बोध कराता है।

They will not come unless they are invited.

Don’t go anywhere until I come here.
